Baker School 001_edited.jpg

Baker School

Located on the Lemuel Baker Farm, the first Baker School was somewhere near the current school which is a home on Smith Run Rd.  The second building was closed in 1907 and used as a barn and then eventually converted into a residence.   I assume that the children moved to the Ridge School across from North Ten Mile Church which stayed open for another 40 years or Pleasant Hill School.  Some of the teachers at this school included:
James Hallam, Lou Mitchell, John Lacock, David Ramsey, Bernard Braden, Charles Manon, Miss Clara Paul, Odessa Rasel, Lizzie Enoch, & Matilda Snodgrass.  Salary from 1895 to 1904 was about $35 a month.
